Fruit

Fruitfulness is born of Relationship...
Power can only produce works….

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in your Name and done many mighty works in Your name? 23 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands.]

Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Relationship...of the vine and branches variety…is the only way to be fruitful…

Mighty works (even those done in Jesus’ name) can be a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal…in the absence of relationship …

Yes... I often remind myself my job is to just be a branch...My loving vine friend will take care of the fruit.

i don't know if you noticed the wooden plaque i have in my kitchen - i wrote a psalm on it that i love and all around the edge i wrote "fruitfulness from intimacy" - it was something i heard on a Heidi Baker teaching CD that stuck with me. That there is no fruit without intimacy - without the seeds being fertilized, in close contact - no babies without the act of marriage, and the oneness of flesh... And no spiritual fruit unless we are willing to come close to Jesus and hear His voice and obey His words and BE in Him...

Actually steph...I don't think I had noticed that....(maybe subconsciously) but it certainly is true on all levels. We often go around beating the brass cymbals, doing things "for God" ...but if we are abiding in Him...we may do fewer things...but they will be His things...

He really only requires two things...That we believe in Him...and that we love others. That's not to say those are easy things...haha...but if we can get those two...we can accomplish the impossible...
